Bayer have said that Emanuel Pogatetz can leave the club for the right price.Bayer Leverkusen have said that in-demand defender Emanuel Pogatetz can leave the club for the right price.
Bayer supremo Wolfgang Holzhauser stated on Thursday that the Austrian international star would be available "if the price that we want can be met".
The news will alert Premiership clubs Fulham and Middlesbrough, who are both believed to be hot on the heels of the talented 22-year-old, as well as Russian outfit Spartak Moscow where he is currently on loan.
Bayer are likely to demand a fee of around é¼3 million for his signature.
The German outfit's declaration that Pogatetz can leave for the right price is a shift in stance after coach Klaus Augenthaler admitted earlier in the week that he was counting on the player for next season.
Meanwhile Holzhauser confirmed that Leverkusen have signed Brazilian defender Athirson from Cruzeiro.
The 28-year-old has been handed a three-year deal at the BayArena and is likely to replace Argentinian left back Diego Placente in the Bayer line-up.
Holzhauser commented: "He will be an enrichment for the Bundesliga."
