Juve: Appiah to leave

Juventus have confirmed that Stephen Appiah is set to leave the club.

Juventus have confirmed that Stephen Appiah is set to leave the club.

Having completed the signing of Patrick Vieira from Arsenal, Juve are looking to trim their wage bill, with Appiah and Fabrizio Miccoli the likely victims of any cull.

Appiah was linked to Arsenal as part of the Vieira deal, but The Gunners were not keen.

Middlesbrough want him, but only on loan - while Birmingham, Everton and Fiorentina are also said to be keen.

However, it is now being reported that Turkish giants Fenerbahce are ready to offer him a deal.

"A few players will leave Juve," said general director Luciano Moggi

"Appiah, although he is a champion, might leave. Surely him or another midfielder, will be sold.

"It depends also the offers for Miccoli, he too will go and play with another side.

"What I can assure is that we have no hurry to sell: we will evaluate the different offers and we will decide."

Miccoli has also been linked with a move to England, with again, Birmingham and West Ham said to be keen.

Newly promoted Genoa could give Miccoli the option to remain in Serie A.
