Doncaster midfielder Dave Mulligan has decided against playing for his country.Doncaster Rovers have been boosted by the news that Dave Mulligan has decided against playing for his country.
New Zealand called Mulligan up for two friendlies with Malaysia this month, but the former Barnsley man has pulled out of the squad.
Mulligan wants to concentrate his efforts on Doncaster over the coming weeks.
"With my contract up in the summer I need to get games for the club I'm contracted to and the gaffer needs my help," said Mulligan.
"I've spoken to the New Zealand boss and although he is not happy, he understands the situation. I can now look to playing over the next few weeks for Rovers."
Meanwhile, Doncaster bolstered their squad just before clash with Barnsley on Saturday with the signing of David Wheater.
The 18-year-old Middlesbrough defender, who made his Premiership debut earlier this season, has signed on a one-month loan deal.
