Darlington are trying to bring Middlesbrough striker Danny Graham back to the club on loan.
Graham has recently headed back to The Riverside after a three-month stint at Derby County, where he failed to score in 14 appearances.
But his return to Boro could be short-lived as Darlington have expressed an interest in re-signing the 20-year-old.
Towards the end of the 2003/04 season, Graham scored twice in nine appearances while on loan at The Quakers and David Hodgson wants to work with the young hot shot again.
"It is an audacious move," the Darlington boss told The Northern Echo.
"Danny is back at Boro and we have made our interest known in him."
Hodgson has made his move for Graham after Burnley recalled Kyle Lafferty from his loan spell at The TFM Arena.
Burnley's injury crisis has prompted Lafferty to be hauled back to Turf Moor early after he netted three times in just over a month at Darlington.
Meanwhile, Hodgson has decided not to pursue an interest in Luke Maitland after the former Luton Town forward's recent trial at the club.
