Darlington have failed with a bid for Gregg Blundell, but are due to sign two on loan.
Darlington have failed with a bid for Chester City striker Gregg Blundell, but are due to sign David Wheater and Evan Horwood on month-long loan deals.
Quakers manager Dave Penney is looking to add to his attack during the transfer window and registered an interest in Blundell.
But League Two rivals Chester have given the offer short shrift, with club chairman Stephen Vaughan determined to keep the forward, who played under Penney at Doncaster Rovers.
"There will be player movements over the next week or so, but Gregg won't be one of them," Vaughan told the club's official website.
"We want him to stay and be an integral part of our promotion push and as such we will thank Darlington for their interest but reject their offer."
Penney has enjoyed better luck with his other bids though, with Middlesbrough defender Wheater and Sheffield United stopper Horwood set to sign.
Wheater played under Penney during a loan spell at Doncaster last season and made one appearance for Wolves earlier in this campaign.
Horwood will be returning for a second loan stint in the North East after making two appearances for the club in October prior to picking up an injury.
