Boro's keeper bid turned down

FC Brno have rejected an offer from Middlesbrough for goalkeeper Martin Lejsal.

FC Brno have rejected an offer from Middlesbrough for goalkeeper Martin Lejsal.

Though a keeper is not thought to be a priority for Boro boss Gareth Southgate in January, Lejsal has been linked with a move to The Riverside over the past month.

His Czech club FC Brno are thought to be open to letting the player leave, but have knocked back Boro's opening gambit.

Major shareholder Roman Pros confirmed an offer had been turned down, but expects further talks regarding a deal.

"We continue on with discussions," Pros told the club's official website.

"We have arranged another meeting with his agent Pavel Zika on Friday.

"The fee which has been offered to us for Martin is not acceptable."

Lejsal has previously declared he would be happy to move to the Premiership, although he would prefer to then return to FC Brno on loan for the second half of the season.
