Jonathan Woodgate expects to wait until the end of the season before making a decision on his future.The England international is on a season-long loan at Middlesbrough, who are keen to sign the stopper permanently.
However, Boro will face competition from a host of Premiership clubs for Woodgate's services in the summer.
"I'll sit down and talk with Boro and also see what other clubs are interested," Woodgate told the Daily Telegraph.
"I'll probably wait until the end of the season but you never know what could happen. You never know.
"I'm dead happy. I've got a lot of pride playing here.
"There's nothing better than playing for your hometown club and building something from scratch to try to get to the top."
Woodgate is keeping all his options open and admits he would love to go back to Spain and prove himself after an injury-hit spell at Real Madrid.
"Well, I don't know who makes the decisions there, whether it's the manager or the people above him," he said.
"You never know. I've still got another year on my contract so we'll see what happens.
"On the one hand, I want to go back to Madrid and prove myself but then I think I might want to stay in England and build something here. It's a difficult one.
"It's a shame because I know I could have done it at Madrid if I'd stayed.
"I don't have any regrets because I couldn't help getting injured but I know I could have done something there."
