Middlesbrough manager Gordon Strachan has hailed Rhys Williams for playing through the pain barrier to help the club's push for the Championship play-offs.
The 21-year-old midfielder has been unable to train as he struggles with a long-term pelvic injury.
But the Australian has still managed to start the last five games of the club's eight-match unbeaten run and is set to continue at West Brom on Saturday.
Boss Strachan is delighted with Willams' battling effort after helping the eighth-placed Teessiders to move to within four points of the last play-off berth with three games remaining.
Strachan said: "Rhys is not training during the week but he will play at the weekend because he has to play.
"He's has had a pelvic injury that he's had to put up with for a long time and he's done fantastically well to keep playing."
