Blackburn manager Gary Bowyer feels the addition of Alex Baptiste has strengthened his squad in more than one position.
Baptiste arrived at Ewood Park last week on a season-long loan deal from Lancashire rivals Bolton, and Bowyer is glad to have secured the versatile defender's signature.
Bowyer told the club's website: "We're delighted to get him.
"It has been no secret in terms of where we felt we've needed to strengthen and in Alex we've gained more than just one player, he can play anywhere across the back four."
The 28-year-old has a wealth of experience, with over 400 career appearances since coming through at Mansfield.
Bowyer added: "He was someone that when we first took over we were probably just a little bit late to get in.
"We've monitored him and kept our eye on him and we are thankful to Dougie Freedman to allow us to get it done."
