Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson is doubtful for Saturday's league game at Wigan after sustaining an ankle injury in England Under-21s defeat to France.
Central defender Gibson hurt his ankle in the 15th minute and soldiered on until just before half-time when he was withdrawn by Under-21s boss Gareth Southgate.
Southgate's Young Lions squandered a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 for their first defeat in 11 matches.
Another Boro centre-half, Kenneth Omeruo, also sustained a knock while in action for Nigeria but is expected to be in contention to face Wigan after being assessed by the club's medical staff.
