Kit Symons has been sacked as manager of Fulham in the wake of their 5-2 defeat at home to Birmingham.
The Welshman, who was previously the club's head of academy, becomes the fourth manager in less than two years to be dismissed by the Whites.
Symons' side have lost six of their 16 Championship matches so far this season, winning just three of eight home games, and sit 12th in the table.
They have also conceded 28 goals and only bottom-of-the-table Rotherham have conceded more.
Sky sources understand Alan Curbishley will take charge of first-team training while chief football officer Mike Rigg will head the search for Symons' successor.
Last month, owner Shahid Khan stopped short of assuring Symons of his future and insisted results must improve.
And after making the decision on Sunday, Khan said: "No one can ever doubt the effort and commitment that Kit put into Fulham, not only as first-team manager, but also as a player here, and as a key figure in the success of our academy.
"Kit came through for us last year at this time and helped stabilise our club on and off the pitch, and we're very grateful for that and his many other contributions over the years.
"It is now time to take Fulham to the higher level of success that we expect from our first-team manager and our players, and our supporters here in London and throughout the world deserve."
Symons is a former Fulham defender who made over 100 appearances between 1998 and 2001.
He was in charge of the club's successful academy until given the caretaker manager's job when Felix Magath was sacked in September last year.
Symons was given the full-time role a month later but won just 22 of his 61 matches at the helm.
