The former Juventus keeper has been on the sidelines due to a foot injury, and only recently declared his fitness by playing a reserve match.
Cottagers boss Chris Coleman said earlier in the week he was not prepared to risk van der Sar, opting to keep Maik Taylor in goal, but Advocaat has ignored doubts about his fitness by naming him in his squad.
It is not yet known if van der Sar will start against Portugal, with Sander Westerveld in contention, but it demonstrates the regard he is held in by Advocaat and his coaching staff.
Utrecht`s Dirk Kuyt and Wesley Sneijder of Ajax have also been included and could make their international bows.
The likes of Clarence Seedorf, Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Jaap Stam and Ronald Waterreus are injured, but Advocaat has decided to stick with his experienced players.
