The Premiership side have been tracking the full back for some time and were believed to be weighing up a move in the summer.
Abidal, who has been dubbed the 'new Lilian Thuram', has attracted the interest of a host of clubs including Lyon and Paris Saint Germain.
The 24-year-old's agent David Venditelli has ruled out the possibility of Abidal moving to Fulham despite attracting interest from the West London outfit.
"We know there is some contact in England, but Eric won't go to Fulham," said Venditelli.
Abidal revealed he had been contacted by Lyon coach Paul Le Guen about a move to Stade Gerland, but admitted nothing has been decided about his future.
The Lille stopper will consider all his options and has not ruled out a move abroad.
"LOSC didn't give me their agreement to leave yet. Now if the officials are not satisfied by the propositions, it could not be settled," Abidal told L'Equipe.
"The Lyon coach (Le Guen) called me. He wanted to know if I was really attracted. I can't say I am not interested.
"Paris and Lyon are as strong each other. We have to see the teams for next season. But it is a difficult choice, it will be settled with the details.
"I ask myself the question do I have to leave straight away for abroad? At first I would like to win something in France.
"For the moment, the two French clubs are the most active. But I don't close the door to a foreign club."
