Fulham eyeing quick Marlet exit

Fulham are looking to offload Steve Marlet sooner rather than later.

Fulham are looking to offload Steve Marlet sooner rather than later.

The 31-year-old has been an expensive flop for The Cottagers as he failed to make an impact after an £11.5 million move from Lyon.

Marlet spent two years on loan at Marseille, but failed to earn a permanent move to Stade Velodrome.

Chris Coleman has already confirmed that Marlet will not figure for The Cottagers, and he now says that they are in talks about a move.

"We are discussing a possible move but there is no way forward for him at Fulham," said Coleman.

"Hopefully we can resolve the matter sooner rather than later."

Marlet has already turned down Le Mans while Charlton were also thought to be on his trail, but the player wanted European football.

He may now have to lower his sights somewhat as he has no future at Craven Cottage and needs to find a new club for the coming season.
