The striker is not wanted by Fulham boss Chris Coleman after spending the past two seasons on loan at Marseille.
Coleman is happy to let Marlet leave Craven Cottage but the France international is refusing to simply give up the final 12 months on his contract.
Marlet's representatives are discussing an amicable solution with Fulham, while the 31-year-old is currently training with Cote d'Azur.
Auxerre and Lille have shown tentative interest in the attacker but Marlet is uncertain where he will play his football this season after denying reports he had rejected a move to Nancy.
"I thought I could resume with Fulham but it was not possible," Marlet told L'Equipe. "The club left for a tour of the USA without me.
"I still have one year remaining on my contract. My representatives and the club's ones are trying to find a solution.
"I still have one year left of my contract with Fulham and I won't abandon it. I am confident and I hope everything will be settled next week.
"Auxerre is a possibility but today there is nothing with AJA - not a single concrete talk.
"Frankly, I don't know where I will play next season. Everything is blocked as long as my situation with Fulham is not settled.
"I read Nancy chairman Mr Parentin offered me something that I refused. It is completely false. Me and my agents never had any contact with Nancy."
