Chris Coleman has warned potential suitors off a move for Steed Malbranque.Chris Coleman has warned potential suitors off a move for Steed Malbranque.
The midfield ace has been linked with a switch away from Craven Cottage, with former club Lyon reportedly leading the chase for his signature.
The French champions, armed with the £24.4 million they secured from Chelsea for Michael Essien, are looking to bolster their midfield and boss Gerard Houllier is a confirmed admirer of Malbranque from his time in England.
However, Coleman, just as he has done in the face of Newcastle's interest in Luis Boa Morte, is standing firm over Malbranque and insists it would make no sense to offload his better players with the transfer window due to slam shut in a week's time.
"It certainly is not in the best interests of your club to sell one of your best players in the last week of the transfer window," Coleman stated.
Malbranque has started both of Fulham's league games this term and far from looking to sell, Coleman has made it clear he is hoping to strengthen his squad before the transfer deadline.
