Chris Coleman has revealed Heidar Helguson is playing through the pain barrier.
Fulham boss Chris Coleman has revealed Heidar Helguson is playing through the pain barrier with a knee injury.
Helguson was left out of Wednesday's defeat to Liverpool as Coleman looks to try and rest the player to prevent the injury getting worse.
Coleman fears the former Watford man may need an operation to correct the problem.
Helguson along with top scorer Brian McBride were rested for the defeat at Anfield and Coleman knows he needs to be careful with his two forwards.
"Heidar has got a knee problem which might need a bit of surgery at the end of the season and Brian's had a groin problem," said Coleman.
"The games have been coming thick and fast and they needed a rest - and both agreed with that.
"Brian came on but it will serve them well for the remaining games that they've had a little rest.
"Brian's groin is a lot better but he will need a bit of surgery, so I've been told, at the end of the season so we've got to make sure we look after him and don't lose him completely."
