Wayne Bridge is playing through the pain barrier in a bid to prove his fitness.
Fulham boss Chris Coleman has revealed Wayne Bridge is playing through the pain barrier in a bid to prove his fitness ahead of the World Cup.
Bridge is keen to be playing regularly right up until the end of the season so that he can catch the eye of Sven Goran Eriksson.
The 25-year-old, who is on loan at Fulham from Chelsea, is struggling with hamstring and ankle problems.
Bridge has missed a large part of the season through injury and he does not want to risk missing out on Eriksson's World Cup squad by missing games.
"Wayne has been feeling his hamstring and he had a knock on his ankle early doors against Wigan - but he's getting on with it," said Coleman.
"He's desperate to go to the World Cup and no doubt he has the quality to get into England's squad.
"He hasn't been at his best for the last few games but we've wanted him to play because he's quality.
"He's been playing through a bit of pain and full credit to him for that - he's not just at Fulham to see out the season."
