Chris Coleman has revealed Fulham rejected a summer bid for Heidar Helguson.
Fulham boss Chris Coleman has revealed the Londoners rejected a bid for Heidar Helguson in the summer.
The former Watford striker failed to set The Premiership alight in his first season with The Cottagers, netting eight times from 27 appearances.
With Helguson playing second fiddle to Brian McBride and Collins John last term an unknown club made an approach for his services, but that was swiftly rejected.
Coleman is backing Helguson to start banging in the goals once he has the chance to prove his form when he is recalled to the side.
"We received a big bid for him in the summer and I turned it down flat because he's an important player for us," said Coleman.
"One he get back in the side and gets games he'll be fine."
Helguson could line up against his former team-mates on Monday when The Hornets entertain Fulham, live on Sky Sports 1.
