Chris Coleman believes Heidar Helguson has a big part to play in Fulham's future.
Fulham boss Chris Coleman believes Heidar Helguson has a big part to play in the club's future.
Helguson struggled to hold down a regular place in Coleman's side last season after arriving from Watford.
The Icelandic international impressed in Monday's 3-3 draw with Watford and Coleman feels Helguson is improving all the time.
"Heidar is a tough, tough boy. He is a good player as well. He has improved on the player that first arrived here as well," said Coleman.
"We had a big bid for him in the summer and I turned it down flat because he's important to us.
"He is a good age, is fantastic in the dressing room with the lads and is important to what we're trying to achieve.
"Heidar knows he is going to play games for us so he doesn't get that frustrated sitting on the bench.
"But that's another quality he has - he understands the team comes first. He is patient.
"Last season it took him a while to get in and once he did he never looked back. He has leadership qualities too."
