Zat Knight has apologised after becoming embroiled in an exchange of words with Fulham supporters as he left the field following Sunday's defeat to Tottenham.
Sections of the Craven Cottage faithful were less than enamoured with Knight's performance, with the big defender criticised for the role he played in three of Spurs' four goals.
Knight was subjected to abuse at the game's conclusion and after taking exception to insults volleyed in his direction, he now accepts he was in the wrong.
A club spokeswoman has confirmed that Knight made an immediate apology to those he had argued with.
"Zat was unhappy with the result and as he was coming off the pitch a few Fulham fans were also unhappy and shouted at him.
"Unfortunately, he shouted back, but immediately realised he was wrong to do so and apologised.
"He realised that he had acted in the heat of the moment and he should not have done so."
