Rangers winger urges fans to back departing striker

Chris Burke has pleaded with Rangers fans to get behind Daniel Cousin, despite the Gabon striker agreeing a move to Fulham at the end of the season. Cousin made his first appearance for Rangers since finalising the Cottagers switch in his side's 0-0 Uefa Cup draw with Panathinikos on Tuesday. Despite the 31-year-old being set for the Ibrox exit door, Burke says Cousin has the full support of his team-mates, and believes the fans should follow their example.

Encourage

"Daniel is happy here and, as a player he wants to play well as soon as he steps onto the pitch no matter who he is playing for," said Burke. "So I do feel for him and I just ask the fans to get behind him. "He is stepping onto that pitch for Rangers, and if the fans get behind him it will encourage him and make him play better. "We don't want to see any our team mates getting flak. We play as a team and we want each other to do well and we work hard for each other."
