Striker suffers broken ankle against Wolves

Fulham have suffered a major blow with striker Bobby Zamora suffering a broken ankle in their Premier League clash with Wolves. The England striker, who only committed his future to the club by signing a new four-year contract on Friday, is now facing four months on the sidelines. Zamora was clearly in pain after crumpling to the turf following a challenge with Karl Henry on the half-hour mark and immediately signalled to the bench that he could not continue. After lengthy treatment on the pitch, Zamora was carried away on a stretcher while receiving oxygen to warm but concerned applause from the Craven Cottage faithful. The Cottagers later confirmed the extent of the problem and have now revealed that the forward will be out of action until next year. Zamora's absence will come as a major blow to new manager Mark Hughes and he must make plans to cope withouth his star striker for the extended spell.
