Hughes moves to keep Northern Ireland star

Skysports.com understands Fulham ace Chris Baird is poised to sign a new deal at Craven Cottage. Baird's current deal expires next summer and Fulham are keen to tie him down to a new long-term contract. Fulham are believed to have offered the former Southampton man a three-year deal to stay at the West London outfit. Baird has only made one substitute appearance in the Premier League this season, coming on for the second half against Wolves on Saturday, but his versatility makes him a key member of Mark Hughes' squad. The Northern Ireland international is set to put pen-to-paper on the new deal on Tuesday to follow the lead of Bobby Zamora who signed a contract extension last week.
