Wigan dominate Team of Year selections

WIGAN ATHLETIC dominated the selections for Division Two Team of the Year at the PFA Awards ceremony on Sunday evening.

The league champions led the way with four players in the all-star XI - Australian goalkeeper John Filan, Canadian international Jason de Vos [pictured], fellow defender Nicky Eaden and former Peterborough United midfielder Jimmy Bullard.

Play-off-bound sides Bristol City and Cardiff City have two entries each in the side - The Robins providing two wingers in the form of Mickey Bell and Scott Murray.

The Bluebirds see midfielder Graham Kavanagh and prolific goalscorer Robert Earnshaw make the line-up, with the latter having already surpassed the 30-goal mark for the season.

Oldham Athletic's highly-rated defender Fitz Hall gets a mention after helping the Boundary Park club to a near-certain play-off place and Blackpool's Martin Bullock also receives a place for a fine season at Bloomfield Road.

Crewe Alexandra's Robert Hulse is also picks up a spot after his goals helped Dario Gradi's side make a quick jump back to Division One following relegation last season.

One surprise omission from the all-star XI was Stockport County striker Luke Beckett, whose 28 goals this season have helped the Edgeley Park club keep their place in the division for next season.
