Nathan Ellington scored twice as Wigan thrashed Sheffield United 4-0.Wigan's red-hot strike partnership of Nathan Ellington and Jason Roberts destroyed Sheffield United, scoring two goals apiece in a 4-0 win at The JJB Stadium.
Paul Jewell's side scored three times in the space of six first half minutes to wrap up the points and move to the top of The Championship.
Ellington grabbed the first - his 50th goal for the club - volleying in from the edge of the penalty area after Lee McCulloch's header had been cleared by Phil Jagielka.
Having set Wigan on their way, 'The Duke' then turned provider, gallopping down the right before crossing for Roberts to tap in from six yards.
It was all over two mintues later when Per Frandsen found Ellington in space outside the United penalty area and he rammed in his eighth goal in the last seven games.
The Blades had fought back from 3-0 down to 3-2 at Leicester in midweek, but this time it was not to be, with Jonathan Forte's drive which was blocked by Ian Breckin their best opportunity.
Wigan then added a fourth in injury time when Roberts got clear again and cracked a powerful shot past Paddy Kenny for his seventh of the campaign and 15th goal in 23 matches for Wigan.
