Wigan boss Paul Jewell is surprised he has not fielded enquiries for his key players.Wigan Athletic manager Paul Jewell admits he is surprised he has not fielded enquiries for any of his key players.
The Latics have enjoyed a fantastic start to the season, sitting top of The Championship and remaining unbeaten after 15 games.
Jewell can boast several gifted players in his squad with strike pairing Nathan Ellington and Jason Roberts, along with Leighton Baines, among those receiving rave views.
Ellington and Roberts have both hit double figures this season but Jewell has not been forced to listen to any offers for his players.
While mildly surprised by the lack of interest, Jewell concedes he is under no pressure to cash in on any members of his squad.
"We're in a very fortunate position in that we do not need to sell players and I think other clubs are aware of that," Jewell told the club's official website.
"I've said before that I'm surprised that no-one has enquired about some of our squad but I think that they know that it would be difficult to get them out of here.
"Because of the chairman's money, we are under no pressure to sell and that's why I don't worry about a club showing an interest in one of our players.
"It would take an outrageous bid for us to sell someone we didn't want to and, in this day and age, with the finances in football the way they are, that just isn't going to happen."
