Wigan Athletic striker Nathan Ellington will see a shoulder specialist this week.Wigan Athletic have confirmed that striker Nathan Ellington will see a specialist regarding a shoulder problem.
The former Bristol Rovers hit-man has been carrying the problem for several months, despite having surgery on his shoulder back in 2003.
Latics boss Paul Jewell is hoping Ellington will receive the all-clear to finish the campaign, as the Lancashire club try and secure promotion to The Premiership.
"Unfortunately, 'Duke' aggravated his shoulder injury a couple of minutes from time on Saturday against Ipswich," Jewell told the club's official website.
"What's more, having had it pop in and out of it's socket during the game, he then rolled over in bed on Monday night and the same thing has happened again.
"As a precaution, we are now going to send him to see the specialist about the injury to see whether it has got any worse or whether the damage is just minimal.
"With a bit of luck, we should be able to get through to the summer without it causing further problems."
Jewell received some more encouraging injury news this week after learning that defender Matt Jackson's hamstring injury is not as bad as first feared.
