West Brom have been granted permission to open talks with Nathan Ellington.West Bromwich Albion have been granted permission to open talks with Nathan Ellington after agreeing a fee with Wigan Athletic.
Baggies boss Bryan Robson has confirmed his interest in Ellington, as he looks to strengthen his attack for the new season.
Ellington's future at Wigan has been up in the air after he turned down the chance to sign a new deal earlier this summer.
It is believed that Ellington has a clause in his contract allowing him to talk to interested clubs if they bid over £3 million for his services.
West Brom are now thought to have agreed that fee and Ellington is now on his way to The Hawthorns to discuss personal terms.
Ellington's adviser Tony Finnegan confirmed talks between both parties were now underway.
"We have been given permission by Wigan to talk to West Brom and that's now what we are doing," Finnegan told skysports.com.
West Brom will be hoping that they can reach an accord with Ellington, so that they can have him available for this weekend's Premiership opener with Manchester City.
