Duke may face Chelsea

Nathan Ellington could feature for Wigan against champions Chelsea on Sunday.

Nathan Ellington could feature for Wigan Athletic against champions Chelsea on Sunday.

The Latics striker is discussing a move to West Bromwich Albion but has yet to finalise his switch to The Hawthorns.

West Brom will pay £3 million for the former Bristol Rovers ace but have not wrapped up their swoop for Ellington.

Wigan boss Paul Jewell had initially ruled Ellington out of his plans for the club's first game in The Premiership against Chelsea on Sunday, live on Sky Sports 1.

But Jewell is now considering picking Ellington to face The Blues as he will report for training on Saturday morning.

Jewell admits that, with the forward's switch to West Brom not completed, he will not hesitate to select Ellington for Wigan.

"No deal has been done so Nathan is still our player," Jewell told the club's official website.

"He'll be training with the rest of the players tomorrow morning and he's in contention for the match against Chelsea.

"There is no reason why I shouldn't play him.

"He is still a Wigan Athletic player after all."
