Boyce passes Wigan medical

Skysports.com understand Emmerson Boyce has passed a medical at Wigan Athletic, fuelling suggestions Pascal Chimbonda will soon be on his way out of The JJB Stadium.

Latics boss Paul Jewell has spent the past few weeks trying to tempt Crystal Palace full back Boyce north and now appears to have won his argument.

Charlton Athletic and Fulham had also been keen on the 26-year-old, but it seems he has plumped for a switch to Wigan.

A fee of £1.75 million has been mooted for a player Palace are resigned to losing as he enters the final 12 months of his contract.

It is thought Boyce has undergone a medical at Wigan and is putting the finishing touches to his transfer.

Boyce's impending arrival at The JJB will only serve to heighten rumours that Chimbonda will get his wish to leave.

The France international asked to quit The Latics at the end of last season, but has been priced at £6 million by Jewell.

No bids have yet matched that figure, but Jewell may be more amenable to Chimbonda's departure now he has adequate cover in the guise of Boyce.
