Ipswich Town have signed goalkeeper Mike Pollitt on a month's loan from Wigan.
Ipswich Town have moved to solve a goalkeeping crisis for Sunday's local derby with Norwich by signing Mike Pollitt on loan from Wigan.
The 34-year-old has moved to Portman Road for one month after Ipswich boss Jim Magilton was struck by injuries to both Lewis Price and Shane Supple.
Price is currently struggling with a shoulder injury and Supple has been absent from training due to a groin strain, so Magilton had been facing the prospect of taking on The Canaries with just Jaroslav Drobny at his disposal.
However the Ipswich boss has now moved to bring Pollitt - who played in last season's Carling Cup final before picking up an early injury - to the Championship side as a quick-fix solution.
"Lewis is going to be out for a few more weeks at least and Shane has a groin injury so I wanted to bring in an experienced keeper ahead of the derby," Magilton told the club's official website.
"Mike has played at the top level and been in the game a long time.
"He has a big presence about him and I know he can do a job for us here.
"He will go straight into the squad for Sunday's game and will stay with us for a month and then we'll take it from there.
"The other keepers will also benefit from having him around the place."
