David Cotterill feels he is finding his feet in the Premiership after scoring his first goal.
David Cotterill feels he is finding his feet in the Premiership after scoring his first goal for Wigan Athletic against West Ham United.
The teenager started his second game for Wigan on Wednesday following his £2 million move from Bristol City in August.
He was rewarded with a start at Upton Park after a couple of bright showings as a substitute in recent weeks and he responded with a goal.
Having turned 19 on Monday, Cotterill was delighted to mark the occasion with a goal and is happy with how his top-flight career is progressing.
"I'll always remember this, especially two days after my birthday as well, so it's really nice," Cotterill told Sky Sports News.
"I think it took about a month or so to find my feet in the Premiership and I feel a little better now."
Cotterill had put Wigan in front at West Ham before Leighton Baines had a hand in the second goal as his shot took a wicked deflection off Jonathan Spector.
Baines felt it was important The Latics notched a win in the capital following recent defeats by Tottenham and Liverpool.
The full-back said: "Off the back of a couple of defeats, we come here hoping to get three points and we're very pleased we got them."
