Julius Aghahowa says he is 'perfect' for England as he prepares to join Wigan.
Julius Aghahowa insists he is 'perfect for the Premier League' as he prepares to help Wigan in their bid to avoid the drop.
The Latics have struck a deal with Shakhtar Donetsk for the Nigerian international and the transfer now hinges on the successful awarding of a work permit for the forward.
When the deal is ratified, Aghahowa - famous for his acrobatic celebrations - will be plunged straight into a relegation dogfight as The Latics are currently just two points clear of the drop zone.
However the forward is relishing the chance to shine in England and believes he is perfectly suited to the demands of top-flight football.
"I will bring a spectacle to English football with my style. I am very offensive and do not fear defenders. Perfect for the Premier League," said Aghahowa.
"I know the problems Wigan are having and I want to help them stay in the division."
Aghahowa does not foresee any problems with a work permit being awarded as he has accrued experience at the highest level during his career.
"All the news says it depends on a work permit, but I do not believe that that is an obstacle for Wigan," Aghahowa added.
"I am an international with Nigeria and I have also played in the Champions league. I think I am at the right level to play in England."
With Aghahowa arriving, speculation has mounted that Rangers could return for Wigan forward Lee McCulloch after having a bid of £750,000 rejected.
The forward has handed in a transfer request at The JJB Stadium but Paul Jewell is adamant that The Gers have not tried to test his resolve again.
"I spoke to Walter Smith and David Murray not long after the news first broke on the television to say that he wasn't for sale at £750,000," Jewell told Sky Sports News.
"That's it. There has been no other offer from Rangers. I don't anticipate another offer from Rangers and I anticipate Lee getting his head down and doing his best for Wigan."
