Hull City chairman Paul Duffen has suggested money is holding up Marlon King's move to the KC Stadium.
The Premier League new boys agreed a fee with Wigan Athletic for King last month, but have yet to finalise the deal.
Wigan boss Steve Bruce has threatened to cancel the transfer due to the delay in the striker leaving the JJB Stadium.
However, Duffen insists the issue is between King and his current club, and is hoping money is not creating the problem.
"As far as we're concerned, we've agreed everything that we can over Marlon King," Duffen told the Hull Daily Mail.
"It's a three-way situation in the transfer - one between us and Wigan, two between us and the player and, finally, between the player and Wigan.
"Two of those aspects have been agreed, but it's down to what happens between the player and Wigan now. The agent has put Wigan in a very difficult position.
"I am beginning to get the impression that the move might be driven by money more than ambition.
"At this stage, it's not clear if that's down to the agent or the player."
