Wigan boss Roberto Martinez is focusing solely on his own side and not talk of a weakened team for Manchester United.
The second-from-bottom Latics head into Survival Sunday as one of five sides who could occupy the two remaining relegation places by 6pm that day.
Champions Manchester United will rest key players against relegation candidates Blackpool as the Red Devils prepare to take on Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League final, but Martinez says there is no point in worrying about things he cannot influence.
Instead, he is focusing solely on gaining a victory at Stoke which would haul his side up to 42 points for the season - and hopefully to safety.
The Spanish tactician told Sky Sports News: "You cannot look at things in that way (United's weakened side).
"I think what we have to concentrate on is the points tally that we can affect. If we get 42 points I think that will be a real achievement.
"What happens elsewhere, you cannot really affect it.
"You always know that going to Old Trafford, whoever's going to play, is always going to be a tough game because you are not part of such a fantastic football club unless you are a winner and unless you have got a real pride in what you do.
"So, all these stories of going in to face players you're not going to find as difficult opposition, that's from people who are not involved in football.
"Whenever you are facing a team of the stature of Manchester United you know you are in for a tough game."
