Wigan and Doncaster keen on Senegalese forward

Sky Sports sources understand free agent El-Hadji Diouf has opened talks with Wigan and Doncaster. The Senegalese forward currently finds himself without a club after being released by Blackburn. After falling out of favour at Ewood Park, Diouf took in a loan spell at SPL giants Rangers last season. He was forced to return to Blackburn over the summer, but quickly negotiated his release. Since then, the 30-year-old has spent time training with Phil Brown's Preston.

Options

He has, however, been keeping his options open and could be set to secure a return to the Premier League. Wigan are understood to be keen and a move to the DW Stadium would allow the former Liverpool and Bolton man to remain in the North West. Doncaster are also looking to strike a deal, with new Rovers boss Dean Saunders looking to bolster the ranks he has inherited. He is desperate to get fresh faces on board as Doncaster are currently languishing at the foot of the Championship table. Skysports.com understands Rovers are favourites to secure Diouf's signature, with it their intention to have a deal wrapped up by the time they face Hull City on Tuesday.
