Robbie Blake struck twice as Burnley came from behind to beat 10-man Sheffield United at Turf Moor, with all five goals coming in the first half.
Blake's opening goal on 16 minutes owed much to a handling error by debutant keeper Lee Baxter, who fumbled a speculative shot from 20 yards.
The Blades almost struck back through Michael Tonge but they did not have to wait long for an equaliser, as Peter Ndlovu fed Nick Montgomery and he fired a crisp, low shot past Brian Jensen.
Veteran defender Mike Whitlow then headed in Tonge's cross to put Neil Warnock's side ahead, but the lead was short-lived as Blake crossed for Ian Moore to loop a header over Baxter.
Blake then rounded off the scoring with a stoppage time winner from the penalty spot after Chris Morgan had brought down Mark McGregor.
United's hopes of getting back into the game after the interval were effectively ended when Michael Brown picked up his second red card of the season for using abusive language towards referee Neale Barry.
