The target-man has come in for terrible criticism since arriving at Forest from Burnley - but his recent form has proved his detractors wrong.
A superb header from Taylor, against another of his former clubs, not only took Forest another giant leap away from the relegation dogfight, but also put a dent in United's promotion chances.
Forest had taken an early lead through Marlon King - again picked ahead of fans' favourite David Johnson, and again showing his quality with a fine finish after Andy Impey's deflected shot had fallen kindly for him.
The Blades got themselves back on level terms when Alan Wright's free-kick defelected off the wall and beyond the despairing drive of Paul Gerrard.
But it was Taylor that proved the hero - with the Welshman rising highest to meet an Andy Reid corner and power home a crucial winner.
