Nottm Forest are poised to bring Jack Lester back to The City Ground from Sheff Utd.Nottingham Forest are poised to bring Jack Lester back to The City Ground from Sheffield United.
The Championship strugglers have agreed a £50,000 fee with The Blades to re-sign the former Grimsby Town striker.
Lester spent three-and-a-half years with Forest, scoring 24 goals, before he joined The Blades on a free transfer in the summer of 2003.
After a solid debut campaign at Bramall Lane, Lester has netted just once this term after suffering with injuries.
Blades boss Neil Warnock admits he is grudgingly allowing Lester to return to Forest as he can not guarantee the 29-year-old regular football.
"We are disappointed to see him go, his contribution has been good at Bramall Lane," Warnock told the club's official website.
"He has been a model professional but I appreciate it is difficult to keep everyone happy and he wants to play regularly.
"Forest came in for him and I was tempted to say no but sometimes you can't stand in people's way when they have an opportunity."
The forward has concurred on a two-and-a-half year contract with Forest and his arrival will end Joe Kinnear's search for firepower.
Kinnear recently failed with bids for the likes of Steve Howard, Les Ferdinand and Robbie Blake as he seeks to lift the club away from the relegation zone.
