White has grasped his chance since the sale of Dean Ashton to Norwich City and has netted three goals in his last three appearances.
The 23-year-old's performances have not gone unnoticed and Derby County, Sheffield United and Luton Town are closely monitoring his situation.
The forward only moved to Gresty Road last summer from Mansfield Town but he only signed a one-year contract.
His possible availability on a free transfer at the end of the season has prompted Derby, The Blades and Luton to check out his recent displays.
Railwaymen boss Dario Gradi is keen to retain White's services, particularly as the attacker has flourished since the exit of Ashton.
White is aware his future is uncertain due to his contract status but feels penning the 12-month deal at Gresty Road has kept him on his toes.
He admits he is willing to stay with the Championship club but is waiting for talks with Gradi after acknowledging his surprise at the about-turn in his fortunes.
"I just really want to stay at Crewe and hopefully I can earn a new deal here," said White.
"Having a one-year contract does keep you on your toes.
"I've not spoken to Dario about my future, I'll just wait to see what happens. But it is important to be playing now.
"If I'd been asked about my prospects two weeks ago I might have seen it differently as I wasn't even getting on the bench - it just goes to show how quickly things change."
