Sunderland have signed striker Andy Gray from Sheffield United for £1.1 million.Sunderland have completed the signing of striker Andy Gray from Sheffield United in a £1.1 million deal.
The Black Cats made their move for the Scottish international last weekend and have quickly wrapped up a deal for the 27-year-old.
The Scotland international passed a routine medical and becomes the Black Cats' tenth summer signing.
Boss Mick McCarthy was delighted to have secured Gray and believes he will prove an excellent addition.
"Andy will add know-how and experience to our strike-force," McCarthy told the club's official website.
"He's a player that will compliment our existing strikers and at 27 he's in his prime.
"His style of play gives us another option up front and I think this is another excellent signing for Sunderland."
Gray ended last season as Sheffield United's top scorer with 15 goals and his performances did not go unnoticed by McCarthy who attempted to sgn the hit-man when he left Bradford in February 2004.
McCarthy has been frustrated in his attempts to bolster his attack so far this summer, but will be delighted to land Gray ahead of the big kick-off this weekend.
