Terry Westley does not expect Alan Wright to play for Derby again this season.
Derby County caretaker manager Terry Westley does not expect Alan Wright to feature again in the club's quest to confirm their Championship status.
Veteran full back Wright has made a huge impression at Pride Park since joining The Rams on loan from promotion-chasing Sheffield United.
But Wright suffered a hamstring injury during Derby's 1-0 win over Millwall on Saturday, which took the club 11 points clear of the relegation zone with four games to play.
Westley will await a scan to learn the full extent of Wright's injury, but he does not believe the 34-year-old will be fit to appear in the closing four games.
"We will assess it on Monday, but it looks a bad one and he'll probably be out for the rest of the season," said Westley.
The Derby caretaker also praised Wright, and his other loan signings, for the contribution made to the club's survival battle.
He added: "All the loan boys deserve great credit for their professionalism, they've been outstanding."
Wright's loan was due to expire on April 15, but there was the option to extend it until the end of the Championship campaign.
That is now unlikely to happen following the defender's injury and he is set to return to Bramall Lane where he faces an uncertain future.
