Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock refused to comment on links with Jon Stead.
Sheffield United manager Neil Warnock refused to comment on suggestions he is keen to sign Sunderland striker Jon Stead this summer.
The 23-year-old endured a disappointing past season for The Black Cats following his £1.8 million move from Blackburn Rovers.
The former Huddersfield Town man scored just one league goal for the Wearsiders this past term, as the club finished bottom of The Premiership.
With The Blades preparing to return to the top flight, it is thought Warnock may look to give Stead a chance to revive his career at Bramall Lane, though the United boss was not giving any hints away as to his plans in the summer transfer market.
"I am continually asked if I fancy this player or that player and I know that will continue, but I'm determined not to comment on any player until I have signed him," Warnock told the club's official website.
Though giving nothing away in terms of potential targets, Warnock is ready to leave no stone unturned in his efforts to find new faces.
"We still need hungry players, but possibly we will have to go for a younger group unless we get a Bosman in and pay the wages on a more experienced player," he added.
"We have still got to have the happy medium and we are looking at variation of players really.
"You have still got to have a decent squad as well, as there are no loan players allowed after the end of August until January, so you have to cover every angle."
