Sheffield United and Leeds are chasing Australian World Cup star Luke Wilkshire.

Wilkshire is hot property as he is available on a free transfer after leaving Bristol City.

The former Middlesbrough man impressed at the World Cup with Australia and his performances even had Guus Hiddink suggesting he should be playing at a higher level than League One.

A number of teams in Europe are thought to be tracking Wilkshire following his stellar showing in Germany.

The 24-year-old is currently training with FC Twente and the player's agent Frank Trimboli admitted a host of clubs were chasing the midfielder's signature.

"Sheffield United and Leeds are both keeping tabs on Luke," Trimboli told skysports.com.

"There are a number of clubs in Italy and Holland interested in Luke and Basel are also keen.

"His performances at the World Cup have alerted several sides and Luke is just considering all his options at the minute."
