Colchester United star Greg Halford admits he is anxious about what the future may hold for him.
The 22-year-old seems set to leave the Layer Road outfit come the end of the season, with his contract set to expire in the summer.
The defender has interested clubs in the Premiership, with Sheffield United having failed with a bid for the youngster last summer.
Reports on Sunday now suggest The U's have turned down a £2million offer from Charlton Athletic for the highly-rated right-back.
The speculation has left a level of uncertainty with Halford and the player is keen to have his future sorted out soon.
"It's getting closer to the end of my contract and I am keen to get away," Halford said in the Sunday Mirror. "It is all making me a bit anxious.
"There have been a few concrete bids from three or four different Premiership clubs already, but nothing has been accepted, which is a bit frustrating for me.
"Each of the offers was for quite a bit of money, but obviously Colchester are looking for a bit more. I'm not sure what that magic number is yet.
"I understand why Colchester do it - they want to keep me until the end of the season and try to get into a play-off position.
"But they know I won't be signing a new contract in the summer and I'll be sold for a fraction of what they could get now.
"There is still quite a lot of time left in January, so I'll keep hoping."
