Sheffield United striker James Beattie plans to return to full training next week after recovering from a knee injury.
Beattie picked up the problem against Blackpool on Boxing Day and was expected to be sidelined for six weeks.
The former England international is making positive progress in his rehabilitation, but is wary about rushing back to action.
"The knee is feeling a lot better and I have been doing plenty of rehabilitation in the gym to keep my fitness levels up," Beattie told the club's website.
"It's a time-consuming injury and there is nothing you can do to speed up the healing process.
"I am confident of returning to full training early next week, although I don't want to rush back and put myself out for another month as that will do nobody any favours."
Prior to his injury, Beattie had scored 13 goals in 24 Championship appearances for the Blades following his £4million move from Everton.
