Defender would welcome switch to the South Coast

Chris Lucketti has admitted that he would consider a permanent move to Championship strugglers Southampton. The veteran defender is currently on loan at St Mary's until the end of the season having fallen out of favour at his parent club Sheffield United. He made his Saints debut in the impressive 2-0 victory over high-flying Bristol City on Saturday and is keen to make a point to both his old and new clubs before the season draws to a close.

Future

"We haven't spoken about the move becoming permanent," he said. "It was just to come down for the rest of the season and help the club in any way I can. "I have another year left at Sheffield so we will have to wait and see how it goes. "It is looking less and less likely that I have a future at Sheffield so another of the reasons I came down was to show people at Sheffield I can still play."
