Kevin Blackwell hailed former Watford duo Darius Henderson and Danny Webber after they came back to haunt their old club.
The strike pair scored on their returns to Vicarage Road to give the visitors a vital 2-0 win and boost their promotion bid.
United showed they will not miss James Beattie too much following his departure to Stoke and Blackwell admits it is a big opportunity for Webber and Henderson to impress in the side.
"What a great opportunity," said Blackwell.
"We're fourth, we're in the FA Cup, Sheffield United play in front of 26, 27, 28,000 every week.
Opportunity"Anybody would want to grab the opportunity, I would have thought and I know they're good players.
"Darius I took from Watford.
"I knew he was a Watford favourite, and always kept my eyes focused on him.
"When I bought him I didn't think I could keep James Beattie in the summer - I didn't want to get caught without a main target man if Beatts moved on.
"He didn't, he picked up a knee injury, Darius came in and did ever so well for the first eight games and then picked up a serious knee injury himself, and then Beatts came back in so it worked out quite well as it happened.
"Darius is a great striker in this division in his own right and I'm very pleased that we've got him, and we all know what Webbs can do and I'm sure Watford fans know what he can do."
DisappointedThe defeat was Watford's fourth in five league games and leaves them sitting above the drop zone on goal difference.
Hornets boss Brendan Rodgers was left disappointed by the result and felt they are struggling to keep teams out in defence.
"I'm very disappointed. We seemed to be in control of the game against a top side, but there's a real vulnerability in defence," noted Rodgers.
