Brendan Rodgers insists John-Joe O'Toole remains part of his plans despite letting the Watford midfielder join Sheffield United.
O'Toole has moved to Bramall Lane on loan for the rest of the season after struggling to cement a place in the Watford team in recent weeks.
His switch to the Blades has prompted suggestions that the Republic of Ireland youngster could be sold in the summer.
However, Hornets boss Rodgers is confident the loan spell will benefit O'Toole and believes the 20-year-old has a future at Vicarage Road.
"He's a good boy and he's only 20 years of age," Rodgers told the club's official website.
"John-Joe's a young guy who needs to be playing, there was a possibility he could have gone in January and it's been difficult for him, but he's a good guy who needs to be in and around somewhere where he can play.
"At the moment, as a developer of players and people, especially young players, there's an opportunity to go and join Sheffield United and between now and the end of the season get a feel for a different environment.
"We're in a good moment here, so his chances here are limited, but he is by no means out of my plans.
"He's a good youngster who we hope can have a good experience at Sheffield United and we can review it at the end of the season."
